EXTERIOR SITE IMPROVEMENTS

  • The sidewalks encompassing the Church and School building were replaced.
  • The main parking lot, the small lot behind the church on Fairmount Blvd., and the driveways around the school building were re-paved.  The Dartmouth Street entrance to the lot was relocated in order to provide a safer means of entering and exiting the lot and improve the flow of traffic.
  • Additional parking spots for the disabled were allotted on Dartmouth Street, in close proximity to the ramps leading into the church.
  • Brick pavers were used to create a Jerusalem Cross in front of the Church and a decorative border on the sidewalk.  Pavers have also formed three diamonds in front of the school building.  Parishioners are invited to have these bricks engraved to commemorate a special occasion or memorialize a loved one.
  • Commercial grade cast aluminum fences and safety gates were installed around the perimeter of the parking lot.  New fencing was also added behind the school building in order to create a small play area for the children in the Early Childhood program of the school.
  • The lighting at the parking lot entrance has been installed, illuminating the new entrance to the main parking lot.
  • New signage was installed at the two corners of New Hyde Park Road, providing distinctive identification of the Church.
  • Underground sprinklers were installed in the area surrounding the parking lot in order to provide irrigation to the grass and plantings around the lot.

CHURCH IMPROVEMENTS

  • The two boilers which provide heat to both the Church and the School building were replaced.
  • A new thermostat control system was installed to provide more efficient regulation of the heat in the Church and School building.
  • The exterior window frames of the church were scraped and repainted.
  • After thorough cleaning of the duct work in the church, the interior walls and ceilings of the church were re-painted.
  • New carpet was installed in the Church narthex, Blessed Sacrament Chapel and in the church entrances.
  • The slate roof of the church was repaired
  • The McCloskey entrance doors were replaced and new signage was added

SCHOOL BUILDING IMPROVEMENTS

  • The restrooms located outside McCloskey Auditorium and the cafeteria were retrofitted to be ADA compliant.
  • The roof of the school building and parapet wall were replaced, providing protection from damage due to water intrusion.
  • New lighting was installed around the perimeter of the school to provide a safe environment for those utilizing the building in the evenings.
  • Two new flag poles were installed on the roof.  The American and Papal flags are proudly illuminated on the roof.
  • Interior renovations to the lower level of the school building were made.  This includes new vinyl tile flooring, enhanced lighting and repainting of the cafeteria and hallway.
  • Two additional classrooms/meetings spaces were created adjacent to the cafeteria.
  • The cafeteria kitchen was renovated including new countertop, sink, and worktable and updated plumbing.
  • New windows and blinds were installed in the building on the south side, the lower level, and the north side one story section.  Not only upgrading the aesthetics of the building exterior, but also providing more energy efficiency.
  • The classrooms and corridor on the second floor of the building were refurbished with new enhanced lighting, new flooring and paint.
