Altar Servers Home > Liturgy >

Altar servers at Saint Anne’s actively assist at our liturgical celebrations and provide a prayerful presence to our community. The Altar Server Ministry is open to all young people in grades 5 and above. We especially welcome teens who serve as leaders in the Ministry.

Training sessions for new altar servers are provided.

For more information about becoming an altar server, please contact the rectory at 352-5904, ext 202.

Altar Society

The Altar Society ensures that the church environment is conducive for worship and prayer. Members of the Altar Society care for items used during Mass and decorate the church for the various liturgical seasons.  Ordering flowers, caring for plants. washing linens, cleaning chalices and ciboria, and light dusting are tasks that fall under the auspices of the Society.

The Altar Society gathers on Saturday afternoons to prepare the Church for the upcoming week of liturgies.  If you are interested in becoming a part of this ministry, contact Alyce Delisio through the rectory office at 352-5904.

Please note: You do not need to be available every week in order to participate in this ministry.

Eucharistic Ministers (EMs)

The priests and deacons of Saint Anne’s are assisted in the distribution of the Body and Blood of Christ at Mass by lay people serving as Extraordinary Ministers.  Some of these special ministers also participate in our ministry to the homebound, bringing Communion to parishioners who are unable to attend Mass.  Extraordinary Ministers are scheduled to serve at Mass once or twice a month.
Parishioners who feel called to bring Christ to others in this way and wish to learn more about becoming an Extraordinary Minister may call the Parish Office at 516-352-5904. Training is provided by the Diocesan Office of Worship two times per year.

Lectors

Lectors proclaim the Word of God at Mass.  Training and materials are provided for those who serve as lectors.  Saint Anne’s has adult and youth lectors (grade 8 and above).  If you are interested in serving as a lector, please contact the Rectory and a member of the pastoral staff will contact you.
