How Do I?

Anointing of the Sick

The first grace of this sacrament is one of strengthening, peace and courage to overcome the difficulties that go with the condition of serious illness or the frailty of old age… This assistance from the Lord by the power of his Spirit is meant to lead the sick person to healing of the soul, but also of the body if such is God’s will.
-  Catechism of the Catholic Church

The sacrament is for anyone who is seriously ill – physically or emotionally - anyone who is being admitted to the hospital - anyone who is elderly.  The sacrament is given also to those at the point of departing this life.  It completes the holy anointings that mark the whole Christian life: that of Baptism and of Confirmation.

The Sacrament of Anointing of the Sick is offered at Saint Anne’s on the first Saturday of each month immediately folllowing the 8:30AM Mass.  If a loved one is unable to come to church, please call the Parish Office at (516) 352-5904 to arrange for a home visit by a priest.

Ill and Hospitalized?  Federal regulations prevent hospitals from indicating if a patient is Catholic and wishes to receive the sacraments unless the patient expressly wishes to release that information.  If you or someone you love is ill or hospitalized and would like to receive the Sacrament of Anointing of the Sick, Holy Eucharist or the Sacrament of Reconciliation, you may notify the hospital chaplain or call Saint Anne's at (516) 352-5904 to see a priest from our parish.  We are here to help if you give us a call!
