Families in Service

Parents and children interested in working together to serve those in need are invited to join Saint Anne's Families in Service at their various events.

Sandwich Making on Saturday, March 10

Many thanks for the wonderful turnout of parents and children who took time out of their busy weekend schedules to participate in the recent sandwich-making event at Saint Anne's.  A great spirit was in the air as families brought fresh cold cuts and bread to make approximately 1000 nutritious sandwiches for people in need.  Midway through the action paused as a group of children, assisted by religion teacher Marianne Huggard, led everyone in prayer.  The story of Jesus washing the feet of the apostles was told and everyone gave thanks for the gifts shared in service to those in need.  The sandwiches were  delivered to various locations in Long Beach under the direction of St. Mary of the Isle Parish staff and also to the Pope Francis Hospitality Center in Elmont.  In addition, the children prepared hundreds of goody bags which were given to children through the Nassau County Department of Social Services.   Thank you to all the parents who helped give their children a meaningful experience of service and especially to Shannon Kolenik and Rena Capri for organizing this event.  Please see photos by clicking on the Photos tab on the home page.
