How Do I?

Ministry of Consolation

"Comfort, give comfort to my people, says our God."
                                                                                                                                Isaiah 40:1

To offer consolation is one of the most important ways to care.  Life is so full of pain, sadness and loneliness that we often wonder what we can can do to alleviate the immense suffering we see.  We can and must offer consolation.  To console does not mean to take away the pain, but rather to be there and say, "You are not alone, I am with you."  We all need to give consolation as well as to receive it.

Saint Anne's offers comfort to those who mourn through our Ministry of Consolation. Members who serve as companions help guide recently bereaved families through the planning and celebration of the funeral Mass for their loved one.  Others serve as greeters at the Mass.  Volunteers in the Ministry of Consolation are known for their compassion and we are grateful for their service to our faith community.

Planning for the Funeral of a Loved One: The first step in planning for the funeral of a loved one is for the family to contact the funeral home.  When meeting with them, indicate that you are a parishioner of Saint Anne's and would like the funeral Mass celebrated here.  The funeral home will contact us as to your request for the date and time of the Mass.  A companion from Saint Anne's will then reach out to you and your family, guiding you through the planning of all aspects of the funeral Mass.
