Dear Parishioner,

As we have begun this new year, I write to ask you to participate in the 2024 Catholic Ministries Appeal (CMA). This 2024 CMA supports the many activities and ministries of the Catholic Church all over Long Island. These include non-parish ministries such as Catholic Charities; chaplaincies to hospitals and prisons; educational support of diocesan high schools and campus ministries at various colleges; priesthood and deacon formation; diocesan ministries such as the Tribunal and Chancery. Yes, parishes are the soul of the Church; at the same time, the mission of the Church extends well beyond the parishes of the diocese.

A beauty of our Catholic Faith and our participation in the sacramental life of the Church, particularly Baptism and the Eucharist, remind us we are more than a local community church. At St. Anne’s our Parish Social Ministry activities such as Sponsor-A-Family at Thanksgiving and Christmas make clear we understand our participation and responsibilities extend well beyond “parish boundaries.” The mission of the Church and the exercise of the gospel know no boundaries. Participation in the 2024 CMA allows us all to share further in the mission of the Church.

We are a very blessed faith community at St. Anne’s. The generosity of parishioners allows us to have many resources. Our Catholic Faith, proclaimed in the Gospel by a parable like the Good Samaritan, like Jesus’ preaching of “when I was hungry, you gave me food…” asks that we share our resources. It is in that spirit that I ask you to participate in the 2024 CMA. All donations to the CMA in some way help the church in its many ministries to those who need the Church’s help, guidance, and direction. Every gift matters, no matter the size.
