On Saturday, October 4th we invite all members of our parish community (even those members that crawl, fly and have four legs) to come for a special prayer service and blessing. Following the service, there will be refreshments for all.

Worship October 04, 2014 8:10AM Day of Fasting and Prayer for Peace

Bishop Murphy has asked that Saturday, October 4th, the Feast of Saint Francis, be observed as a day of fasting and prayer for peace in our world. On this day we remember in particular our persecuted sisters and brothers who suffer so unjustly for their faith in Christ Jesus.

As a parish community we will gather at 8:10AM before the 8:30 Mass on Oct. 4th to recite the rosary, praying for peace in our world and for the people of the Middle East, especially our Christian brothers and sisters, who are suffering because of terrorism and war.

There will also be a day of prayer at the Seminary of the Immaculate Conception, Huntington on that day. For more information, visit www.icseminary.edu.

Faith Formation October 15, 2014 7:30PM - 9:00PM Vatican II - an Opportunity to Learn - Registration due

An opportunity to learn what the Vatican Council did and what it means for us in today’s Church

Pope John XXIII’s announcement of the Second Vatican Council on January 29, 1959 came as a surprise to most of the Church! From 1962 – 1965 the bishops of the Church met in council sessions and produced documents that have come to shape the Church as we know it today. This spirit of Vatican II will continue to influence the church in the years to come.

As we celebrate the 50 years since the Council, Father Peter and Sister Judy are offering four evenings of study on the documents of the Council. We will explore the Constitutions on the Sacred Liturgy, the Church, the Church in the Modern World, and Divine Revelation. Through presentations, and video we will learn what led up to these documents, what the documents said, and what they mean for us today.

The sessions will be held on Thursdays, Oct. 30, Nov. 6, Nov. 13 and Nov. 20 from 7:30 – 9:00PM – St. John Vianney Room in the rectory. A suggested donation of $20 is asked to cover materials. Please call the rectory office, 352-5904 or email Sister Judy at srjudy@stannesgc.org to register or for more information.

Registration by Oct. 15th is requested so that materials can be ordered.

Four day morning and five day afternoon sessions are also available.

Class sizes are limited to 16 with a full-time teacher and a full-time aide.
